Never lose IM ever again…
I thought I share this one as it seem few people still do not know about it. This is 2 step process:
1) Simply access your account with same login details at http://www.secondlife.com then go to My Account > Contact info and enter your e-mail adress.
2) Ctrl + P = open preferences
Communication tab > check send IM to e-mail.
Your IMs might cap in-world but they will be in your email – every single one of them.

Check other options on this screen as you may want to include them as well – I personally like to use “save a log of IM on my computer” option (IM history) as it allows me to remember what I was speaking about last with person who IMs me.
