MADesign Hair @ Ashraya Project
WHAT IS ASHRAYA, AND WHAT IS THIS PROJECT ABOUT?
Ashraya is an organization based in India which operates with the purpose of providing aid to Indian children in need and abused women through the implementation of various projects.
From the organization’s website:
“ “Ashraya”, meaning ‘Shelter’ has brought hope and love into the lives of several hundred children and women, over many years. Founded and registered in 1982, the Bangalore based organization is dedicated to finding solutions for children within the frame work of their own biological families, or in adoptive homes. Initially, the organization’s main function was to work with and rehabilitate destitute, poor and abandoned children. It has now extended its services to the family as a whole.” (http://www.ashraya.net)
As is true in so many nations throughout our world, the quality of care for institutionalized children suffers due to lack of resources and financial support. When founded, Ashraya’s purpose was to improve the quality of care for these children. The organization operates under the firm belief that such institutions are best only as temporary placement for children, and adoption has become a large piece of Ashraya’s mission. Through the important work done here, hundreds of children are placed with their forever families and are able to enjoy happiness and a bright future. Education is highly valued by Ashraya, and that is why the organization also supports endeavors to provide schooling to children who would not otherwise be able to learn to read and write. By helping children lead safe, happy lives and providing them with the important tools that a solid education can bring, Ashraya continues to improve the world, one young life at a time.

Our focus with this project will be to come to the aid of the many Indian children who need us today through the sponsorship of basic needs items as well as study programs. By participating in The Ashraya Project, you, too, may help to provide food for a day or even a week, a pair of shoes, or clothing. It is our hope that through our donations, we are able to help fund the education for as many children as possible.

MAD Agency Presents: C O L O R S
MAD Agency is back!
As far as fashion goes, no decade is quite as notorious as the 80s. After all, in what other decade could you get away with wearing skin-tight pants one day and baggy “MC Hammer” pants the next? During what other time period could you wear leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all at the same time (and in electric neon colors)? Take a walk down memory lane as MAD Agency models present one of the most lasting trends of the 80s, color blocking, on Saturday, April 7th at 12:00pm and 2:00pm SLT.
The fashion show’s set, inspired by 80s video games including stylized pinball machines, Labyrinth, and Pac Man, offers a vibrant rendition to the color blocking theme. In addition to the set, set designer and builder Maddox Dupont will also be providing the soundtrack which will incorporate an 80s flavor done in contemporary style with a few flashbacks.
Items featured in the show will be available to purchase by the public on April 7th at the grand opening of participating designer Faint Paulse’s new store: Ladies Who Lunch.
Please arrive 20 minutes before the start of the show to ensure a seat, and make plans to stay afterwards, as DJ Booch Capelo spins the tunes.

KMADD @ Wear Gray
Wear Gray for a Day runs from April 6th through to April 22nd.
It’s a gathering of SL designers from across the grid of all styles and genres, coming together for two weeks to raise funds to go towards the American Brain Tumor Association to garner awareness, fund research and, aid those that suffer from brain tumors and brain cancer.
KMADD Supports Ronald McDonald House
For 37 years the Ronald McDonald House has been committed to helping families of children who are in need of more than medicine and treatments. Providing a stable environment during hospital visits and treatments, gives children and their parents a loving approach to healing. Michela Benazzi learned the value of RMH personally, July 10, 2009. Her niece, Libby Claire not even two years of age, took a very bad fall while on vacation. If you would like to read the story, Caringbridge holds it all.
From Michela:
“Go to the journal and read oldest to newest. One thing I remember from that time is the call, saying Libby may not make it. Over time I am happy to say Libby has bloomed into quite a beautiful girl. During the battle, RMH opened their doors, hearts, and love to her parents and siblings. They were able to be with Libby through it all. I will never be able to tell you what a blessing that was. RMH will always remain precious to our family, and during the recent opening of the new Charlotte, NC RMH Libby was even asked to be a spokes model Shes appeared on billboards and a variety of advertisements.
It is by far an honor to give back to RMH in any method we can. If you have ever had the need for RMH, you too will know they are there when you need them. No questions asked. That is why I would like to take this opportunity to give back. No child should have to battle any illness or treatment alone. That hug, touch or smile from family is healing too!”

There will be a charity Fashion show with several of Second Lifes top models, along with a wonderful auction. All monies raised will go directly to the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Direct donation boxes will also be onsite, as well as a set of extended 12hr auction boards. Exclusive, limited, and new/recent release designs will be showcased and auctioned off, as well as other great items and opportunities. This is one event you do not want to miss.
